4 ways to improve your mindset

“The more grateful I am the more beauty I see” – Mary Davis

Over the last 6 months, I’ve seen myself do a huge shift in the ways that I think. I’ve always been a firm believer that your mindset can be one of the most powerful tools only you can control. I’ve started doing little things everyday that have changed the way that I’ve thought and I wanted to share them with all of you !

1. Be Overwhelmingly Thankful

Of the things that I notice that changes the course of my morning all together is counting at least 5 blessings in my life. It’s the first thing that I do when I wake up, and really feeling the gratefulness for whatever it is that you choose to be thankful for can really start your day on a positive note. I have been doing this for about 3 months now, and have yet to repeat anything that has already made my list of things to be thankful for, trust me when I saw there’s SO much that we have to be thankful for.

2. Put Your Phone Away

I know. It freaks me out too, but that’s why I know that it’s so important to do it. We live in a world where it is near impossible to disconnect, in fear of missing an email, a text message or a call. For me, the best way to put my phone away is when I go for a run. Now, I am by no means a ‘runner’ I literally downloaded an app called “Couch to 5k” and pushed myself to go and do! Running for me is more than just getting my cardio in for the week, it’s the only time in the week that I get to be completely on my own, and be disconnected. It doesn’t have to be running, it can be anything that YOU feel forces you to be present and disconnect, find what works for you.

3. Find the MORE in Everything

Life’s hard. I’m not saying that these tips will rid you of the bad days all together, I wish that was the case. I have bad days, I have anxiety attacks that keep me up at night, I struggle too. The one thing that I turn to when I feel like life is too much, is the knowledge of more if you don’t know what I’m referring to I wrote a blog post about a message in a book that changed the way I think – you can read it here. Reminding myself that there’s always more to look forward to when you’re having a bad day, reminding myself that there’s always more to life than just an anxious moment, helps me put things into perspective.

4. There’s Nothing In Life You Can’t Have

I believe this. If it’s out there, it exists which is half the battle – all that’s left is make it yours. Remind yourself this whenever you can. Make this your mantra when you wake up in the morning, it’s only YOU who can change your world.

Let me know how you keep a positive mindset! I love learning about what others do to keep on going!
