3 must read books for all my fellow Girl Bosses out there!

I absolutely love the term Girl Boss. I consider myself a Girl Boss. I’ve always seen myself as someone who finds my own opportunities and I don’t really take no for an answer when it comes to chasing my dreams. I’ve touched on this briefly in a previous post you can read here, but I have always had the best mentors in my life majority of them are strong women, who have pushed my beyond any comfort zones I found myself in.

I have recently been reading a lot of books that are considered entrepreneurial, as starting my own business is something that I’ve been thinking a lot about lately. The thing with me is that I’m not entirely sure what kind of a business I want to start. I have so many ideas, running through my head a mile a minuet, all day. These three books were the ones that I found myself gravitating towards, and I honestly can’t recommend then enough.

1. Girl, Wash Your Face – Rachel Hollis

THIS GIRL IS EVERYTHING. I am OBSESSED with how she lives her life, and I just want everyone to know about her. I was gifted this book from a coworker on my last day of my previous job, and I had no idea who Rachel Hollis was. It’s safe for me to say that I feel completely stupid for not knowing who she was before hand, because she is everything I hope I can be one day and more – not to mention insanely successful. Girl Wash Your Face is written in the perspective of Rachel, commenting on 20 lies that she used to tell herself. Not only was this one of the most honest books I’ve ever read, but she practices what she preaches, she’s a mom of 4 kids, has worked her butt off from the time she was 19, and successfully runs several businesses all while making it her life’s mission to empower women to pursue the life of their dreams.

Rachel is coming to Toronto early next year to host a conference, and I am making it my mission to be there. To learn more about Rachel Hollis click here.

2. Work Party – Jacklyn Johnson

I read this book a while back, and mainly picked it up because of the person who wrote it. Jacklyn Johnson is the CEO of Create & Cultivate, the fastest growing platform for women seeking to build the career of their dreams. Jacklyn speaks from personal experience of the do’s and don’ts of being an entrepreneur, advice that I found so useful and a completely honest.

3. Chillpreneur: The New Rules for creating success freedom and abundance on your terms – Denise Duffield Thomas

This book I am currently in the middle of re reading. This was another one of the books that I read that instantly made me feel like the author was talking directly to me. This book gave me a completely different perspective to approaching entrepreneurship than most books I’ve read. For anyone who wants to be their own boss, start a company of their dreams – pick. this. book. up. It’s filled with a crazy amount of information, and a lot of guides to help you learn more about what kind of a business you should be starting based off your personality. It opened my eyes to many different styles of businesses that I never realized I could pursue.
