It’s not new news, that the world is upside down and around. While some counties and cities are beginning to see the small glimmer of hope that is normality, many of us are still stuck in this limbo of rising numbers, and long lists of restrictions. As the summer months begin to roll in, in much of the world, I think there’s so much opportunity to be able to do something small for those we love. To brighten their day, and remind them that we are all in this together. So here are some ideas of some little acts of kindness to make someones day!

Now this might not be everyones forte, but I know so many people who are doing incredible things for frontline workers, which include catering as often and as much as they can to make sure that they have food on those long days. If you live in an area where the restrictions are much stricter, which makes bringing food to the hospitals harder there are other alternatives. Donate money or food to campaigns who’s main goals are to provide food for the most at risk, or for hospital staff. Cook something small for an elderly neighbour, or someone you know who might be having a harder time getting to a grocery store on a weekly basis. There are so many ways to help, you guys!

Zoom has been such a lifesaver during this time, I can’t even begin to count the amount of surprise zoom birthdays I have attended in the last three months, and how many more I have planned till the end of June ! I know so many people who are living alone right now, in fear of bringing anything home to their parents many of my friends chose to stay in their downtown apartments. I can’t even begin to imagine what it’s like to be alone at a time like this, if you are one of those people who are alone, I am sending you a virtual hug and so much love. It is not easy. I always try and remember to reach out to those who I know are alone, jump on a quick Facetime or Zoom Call can brighten up anyones day! If you know someone who’s alone in this time, send them a text, call them, remind them that even though we’re all separated, we still have each other.

Okay, guys, is it just me or have people been going banana bread crazy? Like suddenly everyone I know, and their Great Aunt have been baking banana bread. One week I had three people drop of banana bread to my house, THREE PEOPLE, that’s three loaves of banana bread. I’m not complaining becasue it made me really happy, but if you decide to bake something for a loved one let’s avoid the banana bread. What about a nice apple pie? or, a batch of snickerdoodle cookies? maybe carrot cake? There’s so many options! A sweet treat can turn someones day around in an instant. One of my best friends is a baker, she made these beautiful little goodie boxes for some of her family and I think that’s a great idea and super easy for anyone to do!

Where I live we are on phase one of reopening, which means store front clothing stores and drive-through coffee shops are now open! I have seen so many people do this; when you are in line at the drive-through you pay for the person behind you. I am very aware that many people have different financial capabilities right now, but if you do have the capacity to pay for the person behind you, do it ! It is such a simple way to brighten someone’s day, and majority of the time it starts a chain reaction. So really it becomes a win, win, win…win !

I hope you enjoyed my list of little things you can do to make someones day in Quarantine! Spreading joy is something that – I believe in the core of who I am – is the one thing every single human is capable of doing. You just need to choose to do it, every single day! We need joy. Especially now.

As always I hope you are staying safe and healthy. Sending love to each and every one of you, always. Until next time.
