Taking care of your skin is something most people mature into.
I don’t know anyone when I was a pre-teen who loved to cleanse at the end of the day, I personally used to sleep in my mascara and eyeliner for the majority of my first year in university and was convinced that using a face wipe would be all I needed to get all that product off my face.
It’s safe to say that I’ve learned a lot since then. I’ve learned that taking care of your skin – taking care of your body in general – is not something you should start doing when you start to notice things not looking the way they used to. It’s something I’ve learned I need to be consistent with, and something that I’ve truly learned to love over the last two years.
1. DOUBLE CLEANSE
I honestly used to hate washing my face at the end of the night, if it was a day where I either skipped a shower, or showered in the morning. The idea of washing my face seemed more painful than flossing my teeth – & boy do I HATE flossing my teeth. Especially since quarantine started, since I haven’t been putting much make-up on my face unless I’m going out (which is rare), my skin has improved a lot. I attribute that to two things, 1 – the lack of make-up I’ve been wearing, and 2 – being so bored lately that I have found true enjoyment out of my morning and night routines.
When I do double cleanse my face, which happens every night because I work out everyday and the thought of sweat clogging my pores makes me want to cry. I start by simply washing my face, I use a gentle cleanser, my go to line is Clinique, it’s always worked with my skin type – but please use a line that works for you, we are all made different. I start by using either my Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm and then use my Pep-Start 2 in 1 Cleanser.

2. SUN SCREEN
I can’t tell you how many of my friends, hate wearing sun screen because they are more afraid of their face looking oily than the harmful UV rays from the sun. It truly doesn’t make sense to me. I’ve been super into finding a low-oil sun screen for a while and last summer I found a sunscreen from the brand Supergoup called Unseen Sunscreen SPF 40. For all my darker skinned ladies out there, trust me you need this. I hate that most sun screens out there make me pasty and white, because they’re white…this one is clear and I use it all over my face and neck. Oh and recently – even my hands (Khloe Kardashian said that’s her secret for her young looking hands is applying sunscreen like hand lotion. I figured it was worth a shot)
4. REST. MEDITATION. WATER
You guys, the benefits I have seen from simply listening to my body is so much more than any product could give me. I do my best to meditate every morning and evening, and when I don’t I can feel it – I am restless, I am completely unfocused and I am anxious. I don’t even have to tell you that anxiousness is directly tied with my inability to relax and rest. So when I align myself first thing in the morning – it truly sets the tone for the day.
When it comes to water – guys, I think I’ve been saying this for years on here. drink yo water. Take this from someone who ended up in the hospital because I wasn’t drinking enough water. I try my best to stick to water only during the week, and of course my cup of tea each morning.

I hope you enjoyed this blog post – I know it might not seem that some of these things are juicy skin care secrets, but they’re not meant to be something secretive or exclusive.
